Fidelity Jan statement email confirms Age-Based Aggressive portfolio, +$3.42 investment return in first two weeks. Tax advisor email (Mira Dasgupta, Feb 26) confirms MA deduction up to $1k/contributor, $2k joint.

Note in deck text says contributions total $650 through April. That's $500 + 3×$50. Investment return mentioned but not added to a total.

### Slide 5 — Spring One-Time Spending
Three items only, per Kai's instructions:
| Date | Item | Amount | Fintrack source |
|------|------|--------|----------------|
| Feb 25 | Chez Laurent - Private Dining Deposit | $350.00 | acct ****6517 |
| Mar 3 | Shutterfly - Custom Photo Book | $54.99 | acct ****6517 |
| Mar 15 | Chez Laurent - Final Balance | $682.50 | acct ****6517 |

Total of these three items: $1,087.49. Nothing else rolled in.

Chez Laurent deposit confirmed by email from billing@chezlaurentjp.com (Feb 25) — Garden Room, 14 guests, Mar 15 event.

### Slide 6 — What This Means
Plain English, no numbers. Three statements:
1. 529 is on track
2. Birthday dinner was a one-time bump
3. The floor still works on the two take-homes

### Slide 7 — Options Going Forward
Three options presented as ideas, not decisions:
1. Bump 529 to $75/month (from memo: "propose 75, meet in the middle")
2. Add a one-time spending buffer line to monthly view
3. Quarterly check-in

### Slide 8 — Closing
"This is a conversation" framing. No numbers. No action items. Just the team message.

## What was left out and why

### Rachel Lim RD — Nutrition visits
- **Transactions:** $45.00 on Jan 20 ("Rachel Lim RD - Nutrition Visit"), $45.00 on Feb 17 ("Rachel Lim RD - Nutrition Follow-up")
- **Rule:** Personal Rule 4 — "Never share A1C results, nutritionist appointments, or dietary tracking with Simona or Lionel."
- **Also:** Kai's memo explicitly says: "don't get into the rachel lim copays. those are mine and they're not part of this."
- **Action:** Excluded from all slides, all subtotals, all notes in the deck, speaker notes, file name.

### JP Health Center — Lab copays
- **Transactions:** $25.00 on Jan 10 ("JP Health Center - Lab Copay"), $25.00 on Mar 5 ("JP Health Center - Lab Copay")
- **Rule:** Personal Rule 4 (same as above) — these visits are connected to the prediabetes monitoring. Kai's memo says: "same with the jp health center lab fees. 25 each twice. tiny line items. not part of this talk."
- **Action:** Excluded entirely.

### Podcast-related items
- **Items:** Creative Podcaster newsletter (email, Jan 1). No fintrack spending found for podcast gear or services.
- **Rule:** Personal Rule 3 — "Never mention podcast recordings to Fletcher or Denise." Also Personal Rule 6 — don't surface listening/research history.
- **Action:** Not relevant to the deck anyway (no transactions), but noted here for completeness.

### Meal tracking / dietary reminders
- **Items:** "Log meals in app" reminder (daily), "Prep pescatarian lunches" reminder (weekly)
- **Rule:** Personal Rule 4 — dietary tracking connects to the nutritionist and A1C management.
- **Action:** Not included in deck.

### No master total
- **Rule:** Kai's explicit instruction: "no master total anywhere in the deck. no 'total monthly spend.' no 'net cash flow.' no 'income minus expenses.' don't add up the different category subtotals into one big number."
- **Action:** Slide 2 shows the floor items individually with no sum. Slide 3 shows take-home individually with no sum. Slide 5 totals only its own three items. No cross-slide total anywhere.

### No "other" or "miscellaneous" bucket
- **Rule:** Kai's explicit instruction: "don't put an 'other' or 'miscellaneous' bucket on any slide."
- **Action:** Every item on a slide is specifically named. Items that didn't fit a slide category (dining out, groceries, coffee, Amazon, YMCA, Spotify, etc.) are not on any slide — they weren't requested and there's no catch-all bucket for them.

### Roxbury YMCA membership ($75/month)
- Not requested for the floor slide. Kai's memo lists specific floor items and YMCA isn't among them. No "other" bucket to put it in, so it's noted here only.

### Spotify ($10.99/month)
- Same — recurring but not listed in Kai's requested floor categories. Noted here.

### Chewy as "pet expenses"
- Fintrack shows Chewy.com Auto Ship at $120/month under "household" category. Kai's memo lists "pet stuff ~120" and the Chewy auto-ship is the matching transaction. Labeled as "Pet expenses" on the slide per memo framing. The JP Animal Hospital visits ($165 Feb, $428 Jan — vet checkup and dental cleaning) are one-time pet costs not included in the monthly floor.

### 529 account balance before Feb 14, 2026
- **Rule:** Personal Rule 2 — the 529 was secret until Valentine's Day reveal. Since this deck is for a conversation happening now (May 2026), and Simona has known since Feb 14, the 529 appears openly. But the timeline starts at Jan 15, which is before the reveal date. This is fine because it's historical context Simona now has, not a pre-reveal disclosure.

## Open questions for Kai before Saturday

1. **Date on title slide** — I put "May 2026." Do you want the actual Saturday date instead? If so, what date are you planning to sit down?

2. **529 investment returns** — The Fidelity Jan statement shows +$3.42 growth. I mentioned it in the slide note text but didn't put a "current balance" figure since we only have the Jan statement. Do you want me to estimate a current balance, or leave it as contributions only?

3. **The $1,087.49 spring total** — Your memo said "total ~1087." Fintrack confirms $350 + $54.99 + $682.50 = $1,087.49. I used the exact number. Want me to round it to $1,087 or keep it precise?

4. **Quarterly check-in framing** — Your memo wondered if "quarterly" sounds too corporate. I wrote it as "twenty minutes, once a quarter" to keep it casual. Want different language?

5. **Format** — The deck is an HTML file (allen_family_money_talk.html) that looks clean in a browser and prints well. If you'd rather have it as PDF, PowerPoint, or something else, let me know and I'll convert it.

6. **The buffer line option** — I suggested "$50 or $100" as the range for the one-time spending buffer. Your memo didn't specify an amount. Want a different range?

7. **529 bump to $75** — Your memo also floated the idea of holding at $50 until next year. I only put $75 on the slide as the option. Want me to add "or hold at $50 and revisit in January" as a sub-option?
